CompTIA A+
My transition from Accounting to IT all started with a simple entry-level certification. The A+ taught me the fundamentals of IT, including hardware, software, networking, and cybersecurity. Personally, I would say the A+ is one of the best certifications I have received. Not only did it prepare me for my career change, but it also taught me a broad range of topics within IT. This is a certification that I would recommend to anyone—both beginners and seasoned IT professionals.
CompTIA Network +
This certification was the bane of my existence at one point :). Understanding networking can be challenging due to the technical complexity of the topics and the wide variety of technologies. The Network+ is a good certification to understand the basics of networking. If you are serious about networking, there are more advanced certifications, such as the CCNA.
CompTIA Security +
The Security+ is a well-known CompTIA certification that teaches you the fundamentals of security within the IT space. The course was not as technical as the other two certifications, but it does focus on security operations and oversight. Personally, this certification was the easiest out of the trifecta.
Core 1:
Core 1 mostly focuses on the hardware aspect of a worstation, printers, and infrastructure within IT
Core 2:
Core 2 focuses more on software and operating system fundamentals—specifically the Windows OS.
